Sydney FC’s Marc Janko remains tightlipped about his future with the club and the league’s Golden Boot is untroubled by his recent goal drought ahead of Sunday’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final with Melbourne Victory.
It’s a big few weeks ahead for the likable Janko.
A decision over his future with the Sky Blues, Sunday’s finale to the Australian season and his upcoming nuptials are all on the agenda.
The first assignment is Sunday’s blockbuster at a hostile and sold out AAMI Park against arch-enemy Victory.
While Janko picked up the Hyundai A-League golden-boot award for his 16-goal haul this season, he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last five appearances.
Though the Austrian doesn’t sound overly concerned.
“As long as I’m having the chances in every game, which I am, it’s not concerning me,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
“The moment I stop having chances I should be worried. At the moment everything is good.
“If I’m not scoring, the guys next to me are stepping up and scoring some goals.
“At the end we are all celebrating together and hopefully it’s the same on Sunday.”
The question most Sydney FC fans want answered is whether the Austrian skipper will remain at the club next season.
It’s understood the Sky Blues have tabled a $1.4m deal for Janko to stay in the Harbour City for one more year.
Janko confirmed this week he has made a decision over his future but will hold off on an announcement until after the grand final.
