Melbourne City FC have confirmed striker Josh Kennedy sustained a hip injury in the club’s 4-0 win over Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park on Friday evening.
Kennedy was substituted for David Williams in the 54th minute and a scan on Monday revealed the towering front man had injured a hip rotator muscle.
The injury leaves Kennedy doubtful for Melbourne City FC’s Round 22 clash against Sydney FC, but the striker could return for the following match against Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park.
Meanwhile, Melbourne City FC’s Singaporean international Safuwan Baharudin missed Friday night’s win due to mild concussion, sustained in a head clash against Western Sydney Wanderers last Wednesday evening.
