Brisbane Roar will play Melbourne Victory twice in four days at Suncorp Stadium in an unprecedented run of home fixtures that will provide a boost the club’s hopes of finishing in the Hyundai A-League top six.
Football Federation Australia today confirmed the recently-postponed match against Melbourne Victory will be played on Wednesday, 15 April (7.40pm kick-off) and the rivals will clash again on Saturday, 18 April as the Roar play seven of their final ten Hyundai A-League matches at home.
The game, originally due to be played on Friday, 20 February, was rescheduled due to severe weather conditions and safety concerns due to Cyclone Marcia with the new date creating a unique double header for members and travelling fans.
The seven home fixtures kick off this Sunday against Western Sydney Wanderers and finish on the final round of the season against Newcastle Jets on Friday, 24 April.
“It’s brilliant to be able to finish the season with so many matches at home, in front of all our members and supporters,’” Managing Director Sean Dobson said.
“With the boys sitting just out of the top six, it sets the team up nicely for a late surge into finals contention and we hope to see many fans out in orange as we look to defend our Hyundai A-League title.”
Tickets for the original match on Friday, 20 February are still valid for this match. For those who cannot attend due to the date change, please contact Ticketek for a full refund.
