Perth Glory FC have announced they’ve completed a thorough investigation into an incident involving two of its players in Adelaide on 16 February 2015.
The investigation has been completed by the Club and conducted by several members of its executive and has involved several meetings with the players, the coaches and communications with South Australia Police.
The Club has issued the two players with a Breach Notice in respect to Clause 6 of the National Code of Conduct. Specifically, the Club has determined that the players have breached:
Clause 6.1(a): “… a Professional Player must … at all times behave in a manner that promotes and upholds the highest standards of integrity, dignity and professionalism.”
Clause 6.2(d): “behaviour that brings the Club into Disrepute, including inappropriate behaviour in public”.
Based on the submissions from the two players and the findings of the Club’s thorough investigation, in accordance with Part V of the FFA Statutes, the Club has reprimanded both players and issued the following sanctions:
– The Club has imposed the maximum financial disciplinary sanction on Andy Keogh permissible under Part V of the FFA Statutes.
– The Club has imposed the maximum financial disciplinary sanction (suspended) on Josh Risdon permissible under Part V of the FFA Statutes. The suspended sanction shall become payable in the event the player is subsequently found to have breached the National Code of Conduct prior to the conclusion of the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League Season.
– The Club has elected not to impose any match suspension for either player.
“Perth Glory does not condone any kind of behaviour which breaches the Club’s protocol and the National Code of Conduct. Our investigation has identified the players failed to adhere to the highest professional standards that this Club’s, its corporate partners and fans expect” Glory Chief Executive Jason Brewer said.
“We have conducted a thorough investigation, and moved swiftly and decisively in sanctioning both players in applying the maximum permissible financial sanctions available to us” he said.
“Both players have acknowledged their behaviour did not meet the Club’s high standards, and both have accepted the sanctions imposed on them by the Club” he added.
“I would like to sincerely apologise to our fans and sponsors, to our playing group and Club executive for my poor judgement and behaviour. I realise my actions have embarrassed the Club and I deeply regret the events that transpired in Adelaide” Andy Keogh said.
“From here on I would like to focus on my football and help Perth Glory extend its lead at the top of the table and make history by winning the league and hopefully the championship”.
After 14 consecutive weeks Perth Glory sits on top of the Hyundai A-League table and will face Melbourne City this weekend in their Round 18 match at AAMI Park.
Josh Risdon and Andy Keogh will be available for selection.
