Canberra have lost two of their past three outings after a solid start to the season, which included a tough 1-0 win over Adelaide in the City of Churches last month.Â
Those memories are fresh enough to ensure Canberra have no hint of over-confidence despite the Lady Reds position at the bottom of the standings.
So too many Canberra players will recall a defeat in Adelaide last year – their only loss in 11 matches against the Lady Reds.
Canberra lost 2-0 against unbeaten leaders Perth Glory last weekend, but with numerous chances at either end, the contest was far closer than it may have appeared.
Adelaide United, for their part, visit Canberra on the back of successive 4-0 defeats, no doubt denting the confidence of the young team.
Nevertheless, Adelaide last year were a byword for resilience and it would be a surprised if Canberra had it easy this week.
Danielle Brogan is set to line up for her Adelaide debut this weekend, and the former Sydney FC captain will offer a valuable mix of experience and steel in the heart of the defence.
