White line fever set for Hyundai A-League

There could be a new type of white line fever in the Hyundai A-League this season with vanishing spray set to be used in the competition for the first time.

The spray, which was used at the FIFA World Cup earlier this year, is a way for referees to ensure defenders stay the required distance away from a free-kick.

The white foam then disappears after around a minute.

Some of Europe’s biggest leagues are already using it, with the vanishing spray making its debut in the English Premier League over the weekend.

It’s believed Football Federation Australia are waiting for the shipment of spray cans to arrive before announcing it will be used for next season.

The cans are provided by an Argentine company which is FIFA’s official supplier of the product.
