Bentleigh Greens have become the second Football Federation Victoria club to qualify for the Westfield FFA Cup after a 3-1 win over Richmond SC.
Bentleigh is through to the Westfield FFA Cup after battling past spirited NPL 1 outfit Richmond SC in the second quarter final of the Dockerty Cup on Tuesday night.
The Greens, who sit fourth in the NPL, recovered from a poor start to run out 3-1 winners at Kevin Bartlett Reserve, a scoreline that arguably flattered the visitors.
Vincent Bontemps capitalised on Bentleigh-s indolence to thump home a 20th minute corner for a deserved lead, but after the interval the Greens were changed men.
Brent McGrath clinically finished from 12 yards before Liam McCormick-s sublime diving header gave his side the lead.
An 88th minute free kick presented a marvellous chance for the home side to equalise, only for Liam Flynn to see his effort rattle the bar and then turn into the clinching goal on the break by Jamie De Abreu.
The result sees Bentleigh join State League 1 South-East outfit South Springvale as the first two Football Federation Victoria clubs to qualify for the inaugural national knockout cup competition.
