Sydney FC has appointed foundation player and club legend Terry McFlynn as the Sky Blues- General Manager of Player Welfare.
The recently retired midfelder will be responsible for the club-s player education and welfare services, with the aim of maximising the potential of each individual player.
Terry will focus on developing a high performance culture and providing off-field development and support for players within a stable and professional environment.
“I feel very privileged to be offered a role at Sydney FC within the football department,” said McFlynn.
“I-ve been studying the beneficial effects of creating cultures within sporting organisations and I hope my experience will add to the culture we already have here at Sydney FC.
“My role will also ensure the needs of the players and their families are met on a daily basis to create a no-excuse environment in which to work.
“It will leave the players with no other distractions and mean they can turn up and perform to the best that they possibly can for Sydney FC.
“It-s something that I-ve been studying for a while and I-m excited to be given the opportunity to put my studies into practice.”
Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata was thrilled to be able to make the appointment and believes McFlynn will make as big an impact off the field as he did on it.
“It is hugely important to keep someone like Terry at the club,” he said. “He-s had a great playing career with Sydney FC and is very highly respected.
“We want him to work with our Hyundai A-League players, but also with our Westfield W-League and Foxtel National Youth League players to assist in their personal development.
“It-s a role the club identified and having recently completed a Masters in Coach Education, Terry is a great asset and role model for all of our players, young and old. It-s fantastic to have him on board to continue to represent the Sydney FC family.”
McFlynn-s role at the club begins immediately.
