Goalkeeper – LIAM REDDY (Central Coast Mariners) – a remarkable recovery of his A-League career, becoming one of the standout keepers in the competition. An excellent shot-stopper with good distribution, he still has many years left.

Right-back – OSAMA MALIK (Adelaide United) – Mr Versatility for the Reds in several positions. Comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle and an accurate passer, Malik has had a breakthrough season.

Left-back – ADAMA TRAORE (Melbourne Victory) – solid tackler and a marauding wing-back who loves to go forward, Traore's recovery from injury has been vital for Victory. Sadly, he won't be able to represent Australia.

Central defence – MATT SMITH (Brisbane Roar) – the naturalised Englishman is good in the air despite his height, a great organiser, and a superb reader of the game. Part of the meanest defence in the Hyundai A-League.

Central defence – NIKOLA PETKOVIC (Sydney FC) – an outstanding addition for the Sky Blues. Vocal, has a great passing game (long and short), and a hammer of a left foot from set pieces. His partnership with Sasa Ognenovski gave Sydney a much more solid look.

Right midfield – TERRY ANTONIS (Sydney FC) – a welcome return to form and fitness after serious injury, Antonis's late season performances hint at a European – and international – future.

Central midfield – LUKE BRATTAN (Brisbane Roar) – an outstanding campaign which culminated in him hitting a Premiership-winning goal. Can tackle, pass, set up chances and score. What more can you ask for from a number 6?

Left midfield – THOMAS BROICH (Brisbane Roar) – a return to his best form for the talented German, who was the architect behind Roar's Premiership win. Has wonderful balance and eye for a pass, and would be comfortable at this level.

Right-sided attack – BERNIE IBINI (Central Coast Mariners) – his late season surge of both goals & assists were crucial for the Mariners upon his return from China. Has pace, and is wonderfully direct in his running with the ball.

Central striker – BRUCE DJITE (Adelaide United) – led the line brilliantly for the Reds, where he is integral to their play. His touch has improved out of sight under Josep Gombau.

Left-sided attack – ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO (Sydney FC) – what better way to (perhaps) end his career than a game against his former club? Has delighted fans in Australia with his goals and skills, and is worshipped by Juventus supporters. CAPTAIN.
