Milligan: Victory primed to give it their all

Melbourne Victory skipper Mark Milligan says he has no doubt that his side will be fit and firing right from the first whistle of Sunday’s Semi-Final.

Melbourne Victory skipper Mark Milligan says he has no doubt that his side will be fit and firing right from the first whistle of Sunday’s Hyundai A-League Semi-Final.

Milligan said he was expecting a very tough contest at Suncorp Stadium, with Brisbane Roar having had an extended break, thanks to their top-two finish.

“It has been a little bit of a rollercoaster season for us, but we’ve been quite steady, especially defensively over the past four or five weeks,” Milligan said.

“There’s no doubting Brisbane’s ability and attack and the players they have on the park, but we’ll go there and play our game. We’ll try and get at them. We won’t shy away from it.

“It’s going to be a very good game – hard-fought as most of them have been this year – but obviously there will be that little bit of extra intensity with a place in the Grand Final on the line.”

Milligan was suspended for the club’s midweek AFC Champions League clash and said the break had come at the right time, despite being disappointed to not be involved in the club’s final match of the campaign.

“It’s been quite a long year, so it was quite a good chance to freshen up, but not just for myself but also for Pablo (Contreras), Jimmy (James Troisi) and Gui (Finkler),” Milligan said.

“It helps when you can bring in a few fresh bodies during such a busy period, but all the boys have been really well looked after.”

Melbourne Victory take on Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, April 27. Kick-off at 5pm, with the match broadcast live on Fox Sports and on SBS2, with a one-hour delay.
