Perth Glory have announced the signing of West Australian defender and Socceroos representative Dino Djulbic to a two-year contract.

Perth Glory have announced the signing of West Australian defender and Socceroos representative Dino Djulbic to a two-year contract.

The 193cm tall central defender who played for local NPL Club, Perth SC, immigrated to Australia via Germany at the age of 16 years. Djulbic made his debut for Perth Glory in the 2007/08 Hyundai A-League season, and quickly established himself as a key member of the Perth Glory team, going on to finish third in the club’s best and fairest award in his first season.

The 31-year-old went on to play a further 27 times for Perth Glory, before leaving early in the 2008/09 season for a move to Germany. Djublic returned to Australia late in 2009 with Gold Coast United, where he teamed up with current Perth Glory defender Michael Thwaite.

In 2011 Djublic completed a move to Chinese Super League team Guizhou Renhe FC, where after a string of good performances, he made the Chinese Super League Team of the Year for 2012 and later represented Australia with appearances for the Socceroos in the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Djulbic joins Perth having spent the past year playing for Al-Wahda S.C.C in the United Arab Emirates Pro-League.

“Dino has been training with the squad for a number of months now, and has already demonstrated over that period what an asset he will be for the club. He has quickly gained the respect of the playing group and is highly regarded by the club-s new coaching setup.” Perth CEO Jason Brewer said today.

“His track record is exactly what this club needs, his experience, presence and leadership is what the club and in particular our developing players will greatly benefit from and I know he can-t wait to get back in front of the Perth Glory supporters after a few years away from home.” Brewer concluded.

“It-s great to be back at Glory, the club where I made my professional debut and which has given me so much, both on and off the pitch.” Djublic stated today.

“It-s been over five years since I last played for Glory and I am looking forward to once again playing in the A-League. Next season is very important to me and all involved in the Club. We have to compete and we have to get back to our winning ways. It-s great to be home.”

Perth Glory supporters will get the opportunity to see Dino Djulbic play for the first time back in a Perth Glory shirt when its 2014/15 pre-season training commences in June 2014.
