Reports have circulated on Saturday night that Melbourne Heart have sacked head coach John Aloisi after their winless start to the season.
Aloisi, who was this month named in the Socceroos 2000-present day Team of the Decade, is currently halfway through his three-year deal with the Heart.
Melbourne Heart officials were in meetings throughout Saturday and it’s believed the news was delivered to Aloisi this afternoon.
While the club are yet to confirm the news, Heart have today acknowledged that they are in talks regarding a potential takeover. At this stage it is unclear whether this played any role in the decision.
“Over the last four months, the Club-s ownership has held discussions with one particular group who has expressed an interest in growing the Club, which has always been the current Board-s vision. The Club confirms, however, there has been no sale and that any discussions are ongoing,” Heart confirmed in a statement.
Aloisi strongly refuted suggestions he would resign following Friday night’s 1-0 loss to Wellington, however as has been reported it’s believed the decision has been taken out of his hands.
