Football Federation SA is pleased to announce the signing of Norwegian International Lisa-Marie Woods as a Lady Red for the 2013/14 Westfield W-League Season.

Woods, 29, is an experienced footballer who has played throughout the world.

The midfielder has previously played for Asker SK in the Toppserien in Oslo, FC Indiana & Ottawa Fury in North America’s W-League as well as Kolbotn and Stabæk.

She has also played for Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark’s Elitedivisionen, Perth Glory in the Westfield W-League and Fortuna Hjørring.

While playing for Ottawa Fury her team won the W-league and she was voted Ottawa Fury-s Most Valuable Player.

In 2010 she signed to play for Stabæk, Oslo. Woods finished the season with 13 goals, with Stabæk finishing top of the Toppserien league and she was awarded the Toppserien Player of the Year.

Lady Reds coach Ross Aloisi said he is pleased to have secured Woods in the squad.

“It is great to have Lisa-Marie here. She is a very experienced player and a quality player.”

“We will be looking at her to be a leader and for her to bring confidence and energy in to the side.”

Woods is named in the Lady Reds team for their first home game of the season and is set to take on Melbourne Victory in Round 2 of the Westfield W-League this coming Saturday at Burton Park.

Despite a draw in the first round, the Lady Reds are confident heading in to the greatly anticipated match that will see a number of rivalries. Lady Reds keeper Melissa Barbieri will be taking on her former club, having played for Melbourne Victory from 2008 to 2011.

Former Lady Reds head coach Dave Edmondson will return to SA, this time coaching the opposition. With him comes SA born and ex-Lady Red, Emma Checker, now playing for the Melbourne side.

Victory will be traveling with a strong squad, bringing Lisa De Vanna who was crowned Female Footballer of the Year at the Australian Football Awards in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Along with her will be Westfield Matilda Steph Catley who earned U20 Footballer of the Year for the second year in a row.

The Lady Reds take on Melbourne Victory on Saturday 16 November at Burton Park, kick-off 2:00pm.
