Today we take a look at three strikers vying for a position in the All Stars side and perhaps one of them could find his way back to Europe with a star performance.
With voting for the Foxtel A-League All Stars team to face Manchester United due to close on 30 April, who do you think should be on the team on 24 July?
Let-s look at some of the players on the fringes of the squad, vying for a position to face the 20-times Premier League champions. Today, we take a look at three strikers who all bring very different attributes to the team.
Besart Berisha
Last season-s Nike Golden Boot winner wasn-t as prolific in season 2012/13 as he had been previously, but he still showed he can cause problems for defences by playing off the shoulder of his opponents.
More of an in-box striker than one likely to score a cracker from outside the area the Albanian has polarised fans across the A-League for the past two seasons. Roar fans love him, fans of every other club want to boo him.
The question is would he fit into the All Stars side? The best answer perhaps is yes, if Thomas Broich is there alongside him. The two have an understanding on the pitch and with Ange Postecoglou to coach the side the combination of all three back together again could be great to watch.
Dario Vidosic
The Manchester United game more than anything represents an opportunity for some A-League stars to be noticed by bigger clubs across the world and having made noise in the past about wanting a return to Europe, Vidosic is one player who could truly use a good performance against the Red Devils to his advantage.
The Adelaide United star is one of the most skilful players in the league and by combining his passing, shooting and dribbling skills could cause United some problems on the pitch, he simply needs to take the opportunity.
David Williams
One of the most exciting players in the Hyundai A-League Williams has always had the ability to score a screamer or beat defenders with his blinding pace, the problem is he doesn-t always seem to believe in himself.
Throughout what was a disappointing season he remained as one of Melbourne Heart-s only consistent threats on goal throughout the year and scored some fantastic goals.
That excitement, talent and ability to do the impossible in a single game-changing moment means he could truly be an X-Factor in this team and it may well be worth selecting him in your side for nothing more than his ability to hit an unbelievable goal.
