Djite to miss Victory clash

Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite has been dealt another injury blow with confirmation he will miss Friday’s clash with the Melbourne Victory.

Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite has been dealt another injury blow with confirmation he will miss Friday’s clash with the Melbourne Victory.

Djite tore his adductor in his return from an unrelated groin injury in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Western Sydney at Hindmarsh Stadium.

He was hopeful of featuring against the Victory at the same venue but has instead set his sights on a return against Sydney FC on February 16.

Djite, who first injured his groin in last month’s 3-2 win over Perth Glory, is one of three Reds to be struck down by groin injuries in the past eight weeks alongside Marcelo Carrusca and Fabio Ferreira.

On a more positive note, Adelaide will welcome back Argentine forward Jeronimo Neumann from suspension against the Victory.
