Glory’s last victory came back in Round 5 against the same opposition before a run of two draws and three defeats saw them drop to eighth on the A-League table.
“There was a lot of pressure on us tonight and to get the 3-0 victory was very pleasing,” he said.
“I was very happy with the performance; when you bring back the likes of (Liam) Miller, (Michael) Thwaite and (Scott) Jamieson it just brings the quality back into the side.
“I still feel that even though results weren’t going our way we were still some good stuff and bringing these guys back in made a huge difference.”
The three points sees Glory jump to fourth spot, at least temporarily, but given the tight nature of the league, Ferguson says he’s reluctant to read too much into that.
“I like taking one game at a time, I don’t like looking ahead to three and four games,” he said.
“There are no easy games in the A-League and bottom can beat top, and that’s always been the case for eight years.”
The Scot admitted that the decision to award his side a penalty for their third goal was a bit ‘soft’ but was more than happy to take it in his favour.
“This is the thing I speak about when I say you need that little bit of luck and we got it tonight with the penalty,” he said.
Miller’s return to the starting line-up following a recent back injury helped Glory with their ball retention in the middle of the park, and Ferguson heaped praise on his No.10 afterwards.
“When Liam Miller plays well, Perth Glory plays well,” he said.
“He’s one of the influential players for us and so far this season I’d probably say that Liam and Jacob Burns have got a fantastic understanding of each other.
“They’re two different types of player and that’s what you need in your team to make that balance right; those two complement each other and I thought Liam tonight was outstanding.”
In more good news for Glory, skipper Burns made it through 90 minutes without picking up a yellow card for the first time this season.
