The Hyundai A-League welcomed its 10 millionth fan through the turnstiles at the Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory match on Friday evening.

Catherine Mackenzie from Millswood in Adelaide was identified as the Hyundai’s A-Leagues 10 millionth supporter at Hindmarsh Stadium just before Kick-off.

To commemorate the historic occasion FFA CEO David Gallop was on hand to present the Adelaide resident with an Ultimate Grand Final experience including flights, accommodation and two VIP tickets to attend the Hyundai A-League 2013 Grand Final.

At the game with her husband, son and mother in law, Catherine has been an Adelaide fan since the A-league started and always comes to home matches.

Her son Elliot, who is 10, did the coin toss.

“It was amazing, had no idea what was going on. Thought being chosen was good enough and then they told me I was going to the grand final, plus it’s my husbands birthday!”, she said.

“It’s incredible to think that just eight years ago the first stream of fans began turning up to stadiums across Australia to see what this new A-League competition was about and wondering whether or not it would be survive,” said Gallop.

“I’d personally like to thank those millions of fans that have made the effort to come along to watch and enjoy the incredible atmosphere that the Hyundai A-League has to offer, they have been a hugely important part in the development and growth of this competition.

Since the inaugural match played on 26 August 2005 between Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United, five different clubs have won the Premiers- Plate and four clubs have been crowned champions.
