Striker Mark Bridge insists there is plenty of reason for optimism and better days ahead for the competition cellar dwellers.
The Wanderers have collected just one point from three outings and, more alarmingly, have failed to hit the back of the net after 270 minutes of football.
They are just one game away from equalling Central Coast’s record for the worst attacking start to a season, but Bridge insists no one at the club is kicking stones.
“It’s a pretty positive vibe at the moment. We haven’t got the win and haven’t scored as of yet but the signs are positive,” Bridge said.
“We’re creating a lot of chances and tactically we’re doing well and doing what the coach wants and sometimes it’s just a matter of a bit of luck to get that elusive goal.
“I don’t think people realise that luck does play a part in professional sport sometimes.
“Defensively we’ve been very solid, structurally we’ve been very good and we’ve been very competitive in every game.
“We just need that one goal. I’m sure once one goes in we’ll be fine.”
Asked if, as a striker, he was feeling the heat after such a barren run, Bridge replied: “Yes and no.
“We’re feeling the pressure in that we know we should have scored by now.
“I’ve had a couple of chances I should have put away and a couple of the other boys probably feel they should have buried a couple.
“But we’re not worried because we are creating the chances. If we weren’t after three games then I’d be worried.”
But the Wanderers have every right to be concerned heading into the meeting with the in-form Roar.
The champions’ fluency in attack has long been recognised as their strength but they are also proving hard to break down defensively.
Bridge noted: “It’s a big challenge. They are playing extremely well.
“You know what you are going to get against Brisbane. They are a very well drilled team and have obviously enjoyed a lot of success.
“But we believe the tables will turn soon and we’ll go on a run. It’d be great to start that this weekend.”
