New Zealand striker Shane Smeltz opened the scoring on 10 minutes for Ian Ferguson’s side, and doubled their advantage soon after with a spectacular effort from the edge of the box.
Skipper Jacob Burns made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time, while Japanese winger Ryo Nagai and Jesse Makarounas got on the scoresheet in the second half to complete the rout, much to the delight of Ferguson.
“It was a fantastic performance,” he said.
“To get two wins in four days over Melbourne Victory and Heart is very pleasing, I’m delighted.
“The manner that we played was also very pleasing.
“Now we need to carry this form into the first game of the season against Brisbane Roar.”
Glory kick-off their 2012/13 Hyundai A-League campaign with a grand final replay against champions Brisbane at nib Stadium on October 7.
