Curtis Good has confirmed his switch to Premier League side Newcastle, signing a six-year deal with the Tyneside club.

The 19-year-old centreback made 25 appearances for Heart last season after graduating from the AIS. The transfer fee has not been revealed, although it is thought to be in the region of $600,000.

Prior to completing the deal, Heart boss John Aloisi said the move was a positive for the future of the club’s academy set-up.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Curtis. Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage,” he told the club website.

“While Curtis will certainly be missed, his proposed transfer is a great affirmation of our youth policy, and a demonstration of the club’s ability to assist in developing players to such an extent that they’re able to move to one of Europe’s leading competitions.”

Qantas Young Socceroo Good is the Magpies’ third summer signing after Gael Bigirimana and Romain Amalfitano.
