Melbourne Heart have confirmed defender Curtis Good is to travel to England later this evening for a medical with Premier League giants Newcastle United.

AIS graduate Good, 19, made an immediate impression on Toon manager Alan Pardew during a week-long trial, and marks another Heart product to secure an overseas, following Brendan Hamill who left for South Korea, and Eli Babalj, who joined Red Star Belgrade.

Heart coach John Aloisi said Good-s move was part of the club’s impressive development pathway.

“It-s a fantastic opportunity for Curtis. Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage,” Aloisi said.

“While Curtis will certainly be missed, his proposed transfer is a great affirmation of our youth policy, and a demonstration of the Club-s ability to assist in developing players to such an extent that they-re able to move to one of Europe-s leading competitions.
