Brisbane Roar began their preseason campaign with a 5-0 rout of Premier League club Brisbane Olympic 5-0 at Goodwin Park.

New Roar boss Rado Vidosic fielded a different team in each half as part of their conditioning program with neither side looking any less potent than in the past two seasons.

South Korean winger Do Dong-Hyun made an instant impression, setting up George Lambadaridis for a header in the first half hour.

But it was last season’s Golden Boot winner Besart Berisha who stole the show scoring a hat-trick with three clinical finishes in the second half.

An own goal to an Olympic defender finished the game off, as the Roar players impressed after just two weeks of pre-season training under their belts.

“I’m very happy,” Vidosic said, post-match.

“We used it as a conditioning session more than anything but it was great to be out in Brisbane promoting our brand of football and introducing our new players.”
