Adelaide United midfielder Fabian Barbiero will miss the end of the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season, after receiving a four-match ban for his off the ball clash with Dean Heffernan.
Barbiero appeared to hit the Perth Glory defender in the latter stages of Adelaide’s 2-0 loss to Glory last Thursday night, leaving referee Matthew Gillett no choice but to show a straight red card.
The Independent Match Review panel found Barbiero guilty of violent conduct and banned the midfielder for four Hyundai A-League matches.
With Adelaide out of the finals race, this means Barbiero will miss the Reds’ final three fixtures of the season.
