After an eight-match winless streak, the Heart have bounced back with successive 1-0 victories over Gold Coast United and Central Coast Mariners respectively.
The 20-year-old Babalj has scored the winner in both fixtures as the Heart have moved closer to securing their first ever finals berth in the Hyundai A-League.
With four matches remaining the Heart sit fifth, three points inside the top six, and Babalj is glad they have hit their straps ahead of a tricky trip to Brisbane on Friday.
“It’s always good to score but the main thing (was) we got finally two wins in a row,” Babalj said.
“It’s good to finally get the momentum going just in time for the finals. It’s another big game on Friday… and hopefully the last two games gives us a bit of confidence heading to a form team.”
Babalj – who is Heart’s equal leading scorer with six goals this season – is happy that he has played a key role in the club’s fortunes over recent weeks.
“If you ask any striker, it’s the best feeling when you score a goal,” he said.
“Lucky enough I’ve got good service the last couple of games. I was the right place at the right time and thankfully the two goals ended up being two winners which is very important.”
And the highly rated forward is hopeful of a repeat of the club’s 2-1 win at Suncorp Stadium in December in which Babalj found the back of the net.
“It was a massive win last time. Obviously they were on a long unbeaten streak. We went up there with confidence and we showed that we can compete with the best. It was a good win so hopefully we can get another positive result this Friday.”
