Both teams enter this postponed fixture attempting to arrest four-match losing streaks. It is an important outing for both teams, but for the ambitious Newcastle Jets anything less than three points would all but mathematically put an end to their finals aspirations.
The ability of the two teams to recover from arduous weekend action is likely to be a key factor to the outcome.
The Jets have a mere three-day turnaround from a high-tempo encounter with leaders Canberra United on Sunday. The Glory may have enjoyed an extra day but that has been offset by the travel from Adelaide, where they went through a tough encounter on a gruelling heavy pitch.
The Jets will be severely hamstrung by the one match suspension to former Glory star Lisa De Vanna with the talismanic attacker accruing three cautions.
Handy left-sided flanker Gema Simon also remains under an injury cloud after missing the weekend-s match. After consecutive one-goal losses, the Jets will need all the firepower they can muster if they are to revitalise their campaign with victory here.
After a promising start to the season, the Glory-s woes coincided with the postponement of this match late last month. Suddenly a relatively solid looking team conceded an avalanche of goals – 16 in two matches, including a record-breaking 11-0 loss to a rampant Sydney FC.
Jamie Harwell-s team will now be hoping this rescheduled fixture will mark an upturn in fortunes. The weekend-s 1-0 loss against a vastly improved Adelaide United indicates a steadying of the ship with the Glory ultimately unlucky not too take at least a share of the spoils.
