Bleiberg fined for post-match comments

Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg has been fined $5000 by Football federation Australia for his post-match comments following his team’s dramatic loss to Sydney FC last weekend.

Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg has been fined $5000 by Football federation Australia for his post-match comments following his team-s dramatic loss to Sydney FC last weekend.

The outspoken coach criticised referee Peter Green after Gold Coast conceded a last-gasp penalty at Sydney Football Stadium, losing the game 3-2.

Bleiberg had apologised for his comments earlier in the week, saying his “emotions got the better of him in the heat of the moment”.

However, FFA found his comments breached the National Code of Conduct by making disparaging comments of a match official, bringing the game into disrepute and did not meet the required standards of “integrity, dignity and professionalism”.

Bleiberg received a $5000 fine, plus a suspended one-match ban, which will be triggered should the United boss breach the Code of Conduct again during the season.
