Jason Culina started back in training this week with the team after getting the all-clear from the specialist and that means we don’t have to wait much longer to see Jason out on the pitch.
Defender Tiago Calvano-s wife and daughter have arrived in Australia. Tiago is very happy to be reunited with his family and they seem to be settling in well to their new life in Newcastle.
I am excited to announce that we now have a program in place to help W-League coaches Clayton Zane and Joey Peters identify local players and players outside of Newcastle to represent our Women-s League team. We have scheduled a trial for September to help us further narrow down our search.
On the second of September I will travel to Brisbane for the Hyundai A-League owners and CEO-s meeting. I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to voice my opinions on the HAL, WLL and NYL.
I am also looking forward to our first community meeting with Knights and now HSG, Community Relations Manager Rob Vanderveer. Rob has worked on the Knights community program for some time, so we introduce him to our Jets community program and work on a plan together going forward. We understand the important role the team can play in the community and this will ensure they have an active presence.
During the week I had a very encouraging meeting with David Eland regarding the development of junior players in Northern NSW. Next week our coaching staff and I will meet with David Smith, the Technical Director of Northern NSW Football to work together to allow the Jets to get involved in junior development.
I want to wish Andrew Hoole and Luke Remington all the best for their trip to Japan where they will represent the Australian Young Joeys squad. This is a huge achievement for these two young players and I am excited that young talent from our team have been identified.
I hope that during my time as CEO we can continue to help young players achieve great success in our wonderful sport in this region.
