Football Federation Australia is pleased to announce that iconic Brisbane band Regurgitator will open the Hyundai A-League 2011 Grand Final with a 15-minute, four song set prior to the kick-off.

With Brisbane Roar successfully bringing the Hyundai A-League 2011 Grand Final to Brisbane for the first time the stage is set to make this occasion a truly Brisbane experience.

Born and raised in Brisbane, Regurgitator embody an attitude and talent that has seen them produce a string of classic hits including Kong Foo Sing, Black Bugs, Polyester Girl and Fat Cop and release six full-lengths albums from 1996-2007.

“Next Sunday will be a major milestone for the city of Brisbane,” said Head of A-League Lyall Gorman.

“Following a truly record breaking season, Brisbane have earned the right to showcase their talents in front of what will no doubt be a packed Suncorp Stadium to watch Brisbane Roar attempt to win their first Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

“Sunday March 13 will be a celebration not only of the Roar-s season but for Brisbane following what has been a very difficult six months.

“To have a home grown band like Reguritator play will no doubt bring a lot of added excitement and we are planning for it to be a very special occasion.”

Regurgitator released their most commercially successful album, Unit, in 1997, the last year a Brisbane team (Brisbane Strikers) hosted a football national league Grand Final, also at Suncorp Stadium.

“We-ve never played at a major sporting event like this before so we-re really excited to be kicking things off,” said Regurgitator frontman Quan Yeomans.

“We want to help make the atmosphere something special, get the party started and the crowd pumping.”

The band are currently working on new material and have recently put out internet only release tracks Born Dumb and Evil Eye through their website.

Regurgitator will take to the stage at Suncorp Stadium at around 3.30pm, Sunday March 13.
