Adelaide United’s Iain Fyfe will be available to face Central Coast Mariners on Sunday after Football Federation Australia confirmed the central defender has only racked up four yellow cards this season.
Fyfe collected what was thought to be his fifth card in the 4-2 loss to Perth on Wednesday, leaving United with Nigel Boogaard as the only recognised stopper for the Mariners clash after Robert Cornthwaite was sent off in the Glory match.
Daniel Mullen is also out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
The central defender was incorrectly booked in the Reds’ Week 9 clash against Sydney FC where upon revision of the footage, FFA officials correctly transferred that caution to team-mate Adam Hughes.
Current Hyundai A-League rules state that any player who accumulates five yellow cards from the club’s 1st to 21st match of the season will serve a one match suspension, while a total of eight yellow cards during the regular season will equate in a two match ban.
However, any player who receives a fifth yellow card between the club’s 22nd and 30th matches of the season will not serve a suspension.
