Sentimental favourites Adelaide United are still hunting for their first win
Canberra United v Adelaide United
Saturday 4th December, 5pm
Deakin Football Stadium
Sentimental favourites Adelaide United are still hunting for their first win- perhaps they might find it at Deakin Football Stadium in Canberra this week when they face the Mighty Green Machine?!
The Lady Reds cannot buy a win at the moment, losing 4-0 to Melbourne last week at home.
Once again, the final score line does not provide us with a good indication as to how the game actually played out, given that Adelaide United had better chances in the first half.
United players Selin Kuralay and Donna Cockayne came awfully close to opening the scoring early on, however couldn’t convert their chances to goals. This seems to be the ultimate problem for The Lady Reds this season, and it will have to be rectified this week against Canberra if they would like to shift out of last place!
Canberra United defender Caitlin Cooper will look to ensure that Adelaide don’t succeed in their mission for early goals this Saturday, as she stands strong in their way at centre back. She may even fancy herself up the other end this game, considering she scored Canberra-s only goal in last week-s 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory.
With The Jets triumph over league leaders Sydney FC last week, proving to fans that upsets are possible this season, there is no reason why last placed Lady Reds can-t surprise fans with another one against the girls in green this week!
