Gold Coast back-up striker Milson will get his first chance to impress from the run-on side when United travels to Perth to take on the Glory on Sunday afternoon.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has clocked more than two hours of football coming off the bench over the first five rounds, but will look to leave his own imprint on the match in the absence of injured team-mate Joel Porter.
“I play a different game to Joel, he likes to move from left to right and come back in behind but I like to play in and around the box,” Milson said.
“I have confidence in my game, I am ready to help the team and hopefully I can play ninety minutes.”
Porter went down with a calf strain inside the first twenty minutes against Sydney which gave Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg the opportunity to see Milson for an extended period.
The flashy Brazilian did enough in his stint to convince the coach that he has the skill required to step into the void left by Porter.
“Milson was good against Sydney, he is another example of the depth we have in our squad and I am sure he can step up and do the job while Joel is out injured,” Bleiberg said.
Journeyman Milson, who has played professionally in Saudi Arabia, China, Belgium and Brazil said he was excited to step up to the plate in a league he rates as the toughest he has played in.
“In the A-League you have to be strong for ninety minutes, there are players with good skills and technique and there is no time to relax,” he said.
“I just have to keep learning how Miron wants me to play and I will fill the gap until Joel returns.”
Meanwhile, Porter has been cleared of any serious damage to his calf and has earmarked United’s Round 8 home match against the Melbourne Victory for his return.
