New Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka has signed experienced Slovakian international Karol Kisel for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

The 32-year-old is well known to Lavicka, having spent ten seasons applying his trade in the Czech Republic, the last four of those with Sparta Prague, with whom he went to the UEFA Cup in the 2007/08 season.

Kisel has made 23 senior appearances for Slovakia and has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sky Blues.

“Karol is a highly regarded player and was a priority signing for Vitja (Coach, Vitezslav Lavicka) who coached him at both Slovan Liberec and Sparta Prague,” Sydney CEO Stefan Kamasz said.

“He has a wealth of experience and can play on either the left or right and will no-doubt prove an invaluable asset to the team.”

Kisel will arrive in Sydney on April 20, one week before the team begins pre-season training.
