Goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has been crowned Adelaide United’s club champion for the 2008/09 Hyundai A-League season.
The former Melbourne Victory shot-stopper had a fine campaign with the Reds that saw him notch a total of 16 clean sheets in the domestic competition and the Asian Champions League.
Galekovic also took out the Player’s Player Award which is given to the most consistent Adelaide player of the season as voted by the Reds squad.
“It’s great to be honoured by the players and to be the club champion but in the end you want to win team trophies and hopefully next year we can win the championship,” Galekovic said.
“It was definitely a surprise. You just come here for a good night and if you win an award it’s a bonus. To win two awards is something special and I’m really honoured to be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Fabian Barbiero was handed the Best Team Man gong and Scott Jamieson took out the club’s Rising Star Award.
