NORTH Queensland Fury FC has lured Brazilian mid-fielder Felipe back to Hyundai A-League for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.
Felipe last played in the A-League for the Wellington Phoenix in the 2007/08 season and Fury Coach Ian Ferguson can-t wait to see exciting 27-year-old providing ball to one of the game-s biggest names in Robbie Fowler in the season ahead.
“Any time Felipe had a big game, Wellington looked a better team,” Ferguson said.
“He-s got the spark and creativity you want from a mid-fielder.
“He-s a bit like Charlie Miller – he-s always thereabouts and just knows how to make things happen for you. The style of football I want to bring to North Queensland means having 11 players who will work hard, but I also want that flair and unpredictability that Brazilian players are renowned for to feed the likes of Robbie Fowler.”
Ferguson was even happier to hear the player is committed to rewarding North Queensland for giving him the chance to resume his A-League career.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to come back to the A-League and to have signed a two- year contract with North Queensland,” Felipe said.
“I felt that I had a very good year at Wellington, and am happy to have two years to show the Australian public what I am capable of. It is exciting to be part of a new set up and in the inaugural squad of North Queensland.”
North Queensland CEO Dean Hassall said Felipe-s signing added another dimension to the club-s roster.
“It-s an exciting time for us,” Hassall said.- recently the club announced Robbie Fowler as it-s Marquee player and now we-ve got Felipe as our overseas signing,” Hassall said.
“These are the types of players who will bring a level of excitement to Football never before seen in North Queensland and that-s sure to give dyed in the wool supporters plenty to cheer about, as well as attracting new fans.”
