Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced today that Newcastle Jets’ coach, Gary van Egmond, has been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, specifically of breaching clause 2.1 of the FFA National Code of Conduct.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced today that Newcastle Jets’ coach, Gary van Egmond, has been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, specifically of breaching clause 2.1 of the FFA National Code of Conduct.
FFA has sanctioned Van Egmond for four matches and fined him $2,000.
However, in light of van Egmond’s contrition, unreserved apology and previous exemplary record, two of the matches and the fine are suspended until the end of the 2008-09 Finals Series.
This means that van Egmond will serve only a two match suspension unless he re-offends this season.
The sanction will apply for rounds 12 and 13 of the Hyundai A-League. Van Egmond will be restricted in his access to players, the field of play and media within a five hour period on match days.
