With a spot in the top half of the table up for grabs, the Queensland Roar will be gunning for all three points when they take on Sydney this weekend, despite more enforced changes to their unstable line-up.
Underage international commitments means that in-form duo Luke DeVere and Tahj Minniecon will be missing from the side that upset Melbourne 2-0 last week.
Adding to the challenge is the fact the under-strength Roar will take on second-placed Sydney away from home, but coach Frank Farina said his side would still be gunning for victory.
“We’re going to go down there to try and get the three points, or at least grab something,” Farina said.
“We’re confident that if we continue to play in the manner that we’ve been playing, we’ve got every chance of getting a result.”
The Roar are yet to claim victory in five Hyundai A-League outings at the Sydney Football Stadium, and Farina was confident the home side would still be at their best despite their loss to Wellington last week.
“It’s always tough down there, Sydney is obviously a good side and their flying, they had a bit of a hiccup on the weekend, but it’ll be tough, we got to turn up,” he said.
“The loss in Wellington will have prepared them and fired them up for what they want, which is a home win.”
“Definitely, (it) could be worse, they could be coming off a win and be full of confidence.”
Danny Tiatto pulled up sore after training on Friday with an abductor complaint but Farina was confident Tiatto would take his spot in the side.
