Adelaide United striker Paul Agostino is available to take on the Perth Glory this weekend after overcoming a groin injury.
Reds coach Aurelio Vidmar says Agostino could play a role against the Glory having fully recovered from the minor injury which kept him out of the club’s final two Pre-Season Cup matches.
“Ago is doing very well. It was just a little niggle so he should pull up fine,” Vidmar said.
“He has come through a reasonably tough pre season and with the opening game of the season on Sunday, he could definitely play a part.”
Agostino has endured a tough period at Adelaide since starting at the club last season, with persistent injuries limiting him to just 10 appearances in the last campaign.
But despite the limited game time, the 32-year-old managed to score four goals, proving the former Qantas Socceroo can still be an ominous striking option up front for the Reds.
“It’s fantastic for Ago to be part of the group again and we look forward to him having a solid game on Sunday,” Vidmar said.
“Understanding the setbacks that he’s had, it will be beneficial to Paul and the club that he gets through the game without any problems.”
Agostino started in United’s opening match of the 2008 Pre-Season Cup against Melbourne but came off in the second half after feeling some slight soreness.
