The Westfield W-League became the fifth top tier division to fall under Yuki Nagasato’s impressive roll of honour on the weekend.
The Japanese FIFA Women’s World Cup winner clinched her maiden goal for Brisbane Roar with a lovely dart in behind and crisp finish past Sydney FC goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe in Sunday’s clash.
Although Mel Andreatta’s Premiership-winning side were ultimately downed 5-1 by Sydney FC, Roar fans will hope Nagasato’s stylish debut strike is a sign of things to come from the 31-year-old.
Nagasato’s effort means the classy operator has now found the back of the net in five different top tier leagues around the world having scored prolifically for Nippon TV Beleza, Turbine Potsdam, Chelsea, Wolfsburg, Frankfurt and most recently Chicago Red Stars throughout her storied career.

Nagasato wasn’t the only Japanese star on the scoresheet during Round 6 of the Westfield W-League.
Hours before the Roar playmaker graced the pitch at Seymour Shaw, national compatriot and fellow FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Yukari Kinga found the back of the net for Melbourne City.
The 34-year-old turned in an impressive finish at the near post for Melbourne City, who proved too good for Newcastle Jets in Sunday’s 3-1 win.
