Savannah McCaskill says Sydney FC are ready to make a surge for the Finals Series, starting with Thursday night’s Westfield W-League Sydney Derby.
McCaskill has starred for Ante Juric’s side in her maiden campaign Down Under and scored an important brace in last Friday’s 3-1 win over Newcastle Jets.
It was one of many crucial contributions the American has made for Sydney this season, and one that keeps the Sky Blues, who are two points behind fourth-placed Brisbane Roar, poised for a top-four position.

“The game on Friday [against Newcastle] was good, I thought we played well as a team,” McCaskill told Sydney FC’s official website.
“I played well individually as well. We got the result and that’s what we needed to start the last leg of the season.
“So, going into Thursday I think we have the momentum, we just have to back it up.”

McCaskill was unveiled by the Sky Blues on the day of their Round 1 match up against the Wanderers and inspired a resounding 3-0 result over the club’s rivals.
The 22-year-old has fond memories of that October night but said Sydney cannot afford to underestimate the Red and Black when the two teams lock horns on Thursday.
“It was awesome – the crowd was good, it was intense, you could feel the rivalry from the start as far as just the intensity between the teams,” she said.
“We have to treat every game like it’s our last from here on our so we need the three points.
“We definitely can’t overlook any team.”
