The Melbourne Derby takes centre stage on Saturday evening as Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City clash at Marvel Stadium.
A derby win for either new coach Marco Kurz (Victory) or Erick Mombaerts (City) would be the perfect start to life in the dugout as the two rivals jostle for early season bragging rights.
Although front-line partner Robbie Kruse has been ruled out, Victory’s Andrew Nabbout will be eager to make an impression on his return, and how the Caltex Socceroos forward combines with Ola Toivonen – who has been directly involved in six of his side’s last nine Hyundai A-League goals – should be an intriguing.
Meanwhile, City front men Jamie Maclaren and Craig Noone have been on fire during the club’s run to the FFA Cup 2019 Final. Fireworks should be guaranteed.
