Where does Mauk’s new look rank in most interesting Hyundai A-League haircuts?

It was a high-stakes affair in Brisbane on Friday night as Robbie Fowler made his home debut as Roar boss against a winless Melbourne Victory, but Twitter seemed to only be interested in one thing: Stefan Mauk’s hair.

Get a closer look at the Roar midfielder’s new hairdo, meet a viral video star, see Archie Thompson simply being Archie Thompson and more in our wrap of moments you may have missed from Round 3.

‘How does Fowler let Mauk start with that haircut?’

Mauk debuted an extremely fresh cut in his side’s 1-0 loss to Victory on Friday night, and it certainly created a bit of a stir.

While Rhyan Grant’s mullet was arguably the best hairstyle of last season, Mauk has put forward an early nomination for 2019/20.

Will he stick with the new look or is another trip to the barbers on the cards before Round 4, Stefan?

And in honour of Mauk’s fresh trim, we want to know what the fans believe is the worst – or best – haircuts in Hyundai A-League history.

‘He two-footed a young child’: Archie cleans up unsuspecting junior player

Archie Thompson’s playing days may be over, but on Sunday afternoon he proved he’s still well and truly up for a scrap.

Thompson took to the pitch at GMHBA Stadium only as a FOX Sports pundit covering Melbourne City’s win over Western United, but found himself thick in the action of a junior kick-about at half-time.

And after this scathing studs-up challenge from Thompson on an unsuspecting child, you wonder why he was never deployed as a defender throughout his career.

“He pretty much injected himself into a kids game down here,” Thompson’s Fox Sports colleague Tara Rushton said.

“He runs in and two-foot’s a young child, probably ten years old.”

But Thompson had a staunch defence lined up for himself.

“That didn’t look like me,” Thompson said.

“That could have been anyone in a blue suit… that’s not even me.”

‘Not bad, good size’: Georgievski meets viral video sensation

They say you should never meet your heroes, but on Saturday night Daniel Georgievski met his.

After the Wanderers beat Sydney FC 1-0 in the first Sydney Derby at Bankwest Stadium, Georgievski took over media duties and headed into the crowd.

It’s there where he crossed paths with the man who coined a phrase which has become a pop culture sensation in Australia.

‘Protect thy beers’: Victory winner causes unusual celebrations

There’s nothing like celebrating your side going ahead in a tightly contested game, but have you ever tried to do it holding three beers in one hand?

On Friday night when Andrew Nabbout scored the first and only goal of Melbourne Victory’s clash with Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium, this legend gave it a crack.

And despite some minor spillage, he managed to keep the bulk of the liquid contained while joining in on the action.

Rushton soaked in Sydney Derby pre-game coverage

Before the Sydney Derby got underway on Saturday night, FOX Sports sent Tara Rushton pitch-side for a vibe check as the 28,000-strong crowd roared into life.

And while delivering her verdict on the noise of the crowd live on FOX the unsuspecting Rushton copped a shower from a sprinkler which doused her with water as she carried out her on-air duties.

Without a break in her stride, Rushton dealt with the unsuspecting spray like a champ.

Gulum can’t bear to watch Berisha penalty

A goal down against Melbourne City and chasing the game, Besart Berisha won Western United a vital penalty and the comeback was on.

That was, however, dependant on Berisha converting from the spot, and as the marksman stepped up to take the shot teammate Ersan Gülüm knelt down, and turned his head to the ground.

As Berisha’s shot hit the back of the net United’s home crowd erupted and so did Gülüm who leapt back to his feet and joined in on the celebrations.

Where heroes are made

Babbel becomes a style icon

After the mass-hysteria caused by Melbourne City handing out 1,000 free pairs of Erick Mombaerts’ iconic shades last weekend, Western Sydney Wanderers fans have gotten in on the act.

In his brief spell in the Hyundai A-League Wanderers boss Markus Babbel has adorned a number of different fashion styles, and his most recent statement piece is the flat cap he has worn to every match-day so far this season.

And at the Sydney Derby on the weekend, Wanderers fans decided to get in on the act.

With Babbel’s side currently on three wins from three, is his cap their lucky charm?
