Sydney FC keeper Bledsoe receives maiden United States call-up

Sydney FC goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has earned her first call-up to the United States Women’s National Team.

Bledsoe has played 21 Westfield W-League games, helping the Sky Blues to reach back-to-back Grand Finals, including a 4-2 win against Perth Glory in the big dance back in February 2019.

The 27-year-old was named Westfield W-League 2018/19 Goalkeeper of the Year for her performances in Sydney FC’s Championship-winning season.

New USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski named Bledsoe as one of three first-time call-ups in his first selection after being appointed earlier this week.

The United States will play friendlies against Sweden on November 7 in Columbus, Ohio and against Costa Rica on November 10 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Andonovski included seven fresh faces from the squad which won the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 under former head coach Jill Ellis.

Bledsoe was named in the NWSL 2019 Team of the Season for her displays playing for fifth-placed Washington Spirit.

She played in the US capital alongside Sydney FC teammate Chloe Logarzo, as well as Western Sydney Wanderer Amy Harrison and Brisbane Roar’s Elise Kellond-Knight.
