Football Federation Australia (FFA) has reached a determination on two separate FFA National Code of Conduct (the Code) matters regarding Markus Babbel and Daniel Georgievski following separate incidents at the conclusion of Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s (WSW) Hyundai A-League Round 7 match against Melbourne City FC on 22 November 2019 (the Match).
Markus Babbel
FFA has determined that WSW’s Head Coach, Markus Babbel, has breached the Code in relation to public comments immediately after the conclusion of the Match.
Babbel was provided with the opportunity to make a submission to FFA in response to the allegations his public comments may have been a breach of the Code, which he has done.
After consideration of the submissions, FFA has determined that Babbel has breached clause 6.1(a) of the Code and he has been issued with a formal reprimand.
Daniel Georgievski
FFA has determined that WSW player, Daniel Georgievski, has breached the Code in relation to a social media post he made following the conclusion of the Match.
Georgievski was provided with the opportunity to make a submission to FFA in response to the allegation his social media post may have been a breach of the Code, which he has done.
After consideration of the submissions, FFA has determined that Georgievski has breached clauses 5.1(a) and 6.1(a) of the Code and has been issued with a formal reprimand.
Babbel and Georgievski each have seven (7) business days to appeal FFA’s determination, should they wish to do so.
