Signing news: Zullo commits his future to Sydney FC

Sydney FC have continued to lock-away the majority of their Championship-winning squad with Michael Zullo signing a new two-year deal on Wednesday.

Just 24 hours after Serbian maestro Milos Ninkovic re-signed with the club, Zullo has extended his stay in the Harbour City until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2021/22 Season.

The Sky Blues have also re-signed skipper Alex Wilkinson on a new deal, while four of the club’s young guns have committed their futures to the club

“Michael is an excellent player and a fantastic character to have in and around the club,” Sydney FC boss Steve Corica told the club’s official website.

“I’m very pleased to have him back with us for another two years and I think it bodes well for future success that our long serving players are keen to re-sign.

“We’ve already secured Wilkinson, Ninkovic, now Zullo, plus some of the younger boys.

“It shows the culture and winning mentality that we’ve created at Sydney FC is second to none, that so many players are keen to stick around.”

Zullo has made 100 appearances for Sydney FC in all competitions since joining the club in 2016 and has scored four goals.

Playing at left-back, he’s been a key pillar in the club’s two Championships, two Premierships and FFA Cup success in that time.

“I have had a fantastic three seasons with this club and I couldn’t be happier to be staying,” Zullo said.

“It has been the most successful period of my career and I am sure there will be more silverware ahead, so that makes it a very easy decision to re-sign.

“It’s an extremely exciting club to be playing for with some exceptional players within the squad.

“Each season we are improving and continuing to do well and I’ve no doubt that things will go from strength to strength.”

Zullo missed Sydney FC’s win over Central Coast Mariners last weekend through injury but could return for Saturday’s clash against Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
