Wellington Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay has been voted the Hyundai A-League Coach of the Month for December.
With an overwhelming 72% of the vote, Talay beat Sydney FC boss Steve Corica (15%) and Perth Glory taskmaster Tony Popovic (13%) to the prize.
Talay galvanised Phoenix’s top-six hopes in December after four straight defeats to start the campaign.
The Phoenix opened the month with impressive wins over Adelaide United (2-1) and Western Sydney Wanderers (2-1) before securing draws against Melbourne Victory (0-0) and Sydney FC (2-2).
Wellington rounded off the month by beating Western United (3-1) and extending their unbeaten run to seven.
Phoenix midfielder Cameron Devlin was named Hyundai A-League Player of the Month for December.
