Phoenix fullback Scott set for extended injury layoff

Wellington Phoenix have confirmed defender Walter Scott will miss 8-10 weeks after sustaining a knee injury.

The 20-year-old suffered a high-grade lateral collateral ligament injury during training.

Scott joined Phoenix in June following his release from Perth Glory and was Ufuk Talay’s second signing as Phoenix boss, who saw the fullback as back up to Liberato Cacace.

He has made just two appearances this season – both in defeats to Perth and Melbourne City.

“We wish Walter all the best with his ongoing recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the field later this season,” said Talay.

Phoenix have the bye this weekend before travelling to West Australia to face in-form Perth.
