Melbourne Victory could be without attacking star Robbie Kruse for almost two months after he picked up a fresh hamstring injury in the derby loss on Friday night.
In a huge blow to Victory’s hopes of making a push for the Hyundai A-League Finals Series, the club confirmed the Socceroos attacker would be out for at least the next six weeks.
Kruse limped off in the 84th minute of Victory’s 2-1 loss to Melbourne City at AAMI Park after only coming on 30 minutes earlier as a second-half substitute.
It meant his side ended the match with 10 men after they had already made their three substitutions.

Kruse had earlier this season missed five games with a left hamstring strain, although this latest issue is with his right hamstring.
“Barring any setbacks during his recovery, it’s expected Kruse will be available for selection in the next 6-8 weeks,” the Victory said in a statement.
While Victory have a bye in the Hyundai A-League next weekend, they begin their 2020 AFC Champions League campaign on Tuesday night with a home match against Thai outfit Chiangrai United.
