Melbourne City v Brisbane Roar: match preview

Brisbane Roar have the chance to close within one point of Melbourne City when the two sides clash at AAMI Park on Sunday evening.

Roar’s mid-season resurgence shows no signs of slowing down, having lost just once in the last nine matches to sit comfortably inside the top six.

Their 1-1 draw against Premiers Perth Glory proves Robbie Fowler’s troops are a genuine force, especially if they can fix the starts to matches.

City boss Erick Mombaerts will have been hoping to use the bye to get his stuttering side out of their mini rut.

Looking like the biggest challengers to Sydney FC’s Premiership charge a little over a month ago, a run of one win in four games has ended that hope.

City will have to steady the ship quickly if they want to secure a top four spot, let alone a crucial position in the top two.

There’s has been 11 goals scored in the two previous meetings between the two clubs this season so expect an entertaining affair at AAMI.
