Western United and Melbourne Victory face off at AAMI Park on Saturday with shared ambition of notching back-to-back wins to continue climbing out of the bottom half of the A-League table.
United and Victory both enjoyed wins over Perth Glory in Matchweek 5 – the Green and Black won 5-4 in an enthralling matchup before Victory sealed a similarly dramatic win over the WA outfit, with Jake Brimmer netting twice late in the game to snatch all three points in a contest ending 2-1 in Victory’s favour.
Both teams head into Matchweek 6 directly after notching their first wins of the campaign and neither will be giving an inch in pursuit of successive three-point results.
United won all three encounters between the two sides last season, making Grant Brebner’s mission as Victory boss to snap his side’s three-game losing streak against the crosstown rivals of upmost importance to ensure the Green and Black don’t continue to dominate this local rivalry.
