Melbourne Victory attacker Callum McManaman scored the Goal of Matchweek 10 in his side’s 4-3 loss to Western United in an unforgettable Battle of the Bridge at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
The build-up play matched McManaman’s classy finish as Victory turned defence into attack with powerful running and precision passing to net first in the seven-goal thriller.
Dalibor Markovic sparked the move, sending Robbie Kruse marauding through midfield with an incisive ball from deep in defence. Storm Roux quickly assessed the possibility to get forward and gunned down the right flank, receiving the ball from Kruse near the byline.
Roux could have flashed the ball across goal but instead floated it back toward the penalty area, where McManaman was waiting. The Englishman feinted a move to the back post before darting back across Victor Sánchez toward Roux, losing his marker and volleying first time into the back of the net.
